Written from inside the experience

The Unheard Voice is written by people from within the infected blood community. Our writers and contributors are not looking at this scandal from the outside.

We have lived its consequences, supported people through it, lost people because of it, and experienced the grief, anger, uncertainty and trauma that have followed for decades.

That lived experience shapes the questions we ask, but it does not replace evidence.

How this publication reports

Our reporting starts with what is happening in the community — the conversations people are having, the problems families are encountering, the documents they are receiving, the questions they are asking and the experiences they are sharing.

We then look for the evidence behind those concerns: official records, Inquiry findings, legislation, government documents, parliamentary material, medical evidence and information published by bodies such as IBCA.

We believe lived experience and evidence belong together.

The community often sees problems first. Our job is to listen, investigate, verify where we can, clearly distinguish fact from opinion or allegation, and report what we find.

Independence

The Unheard Voice is an independent publication covering the UK infected blood scandal. It is not part of government, IBCA, the NHS or any political party.

It reports and investigates independently.
